The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Hospital Laboratory Technician I to join their Blood Bank unit. In this essential role, you will support critical patient care by ensuring the timely processing and preparation of blood products. Primary duties include:
* Receive and triage patient blood samples for testing
* Accurately order and log tests in the laboratory information system
* Prepare blood components for transfusion, following proper procedures
* Communicate test results and blood product availability to clinical teams
* Perform routine quality control checks and preventative maintenance on lab equipment
* Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of blood products
Salary Range: $27.71 - $36.60/hour
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSet)
* Ability to work holidays and other shifts as needed
* Proficient computer skills, including data entry and navigating laboratory systems
* Recent experience in a blood bank setting preferred
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (BA or BS) preferred
